For the Glory of Others: JCI Manila Crowned with 18 National Awards at Temiong 2025

In a world that often measures success by trophies and applause, the 2025 Temiong Awards in Legazpi City reminded us of three kinds of people in every contest: the losers, the winners, and the champions.

Losers are those who never clearly define what they want, or those who do but fail to take the steps to reach it. Winners, on the other hand, know exactly what they want. They prepare, stay disciplined, and work hard until they achieve their goals. Yet winning has its price. For one person to stand in victory, another must accept defeat. The winner celebrates on the podium while someone else walks away in silence, carrying the weight of loss.

Champions are different. They also know what they want and give their all to get there, but not for themselves alone. They fight their battles for something bigger: for others. Their victories come from sacrifice and purpose. They win not to prove something, but to share something. Their joy is multiplied, and their legacy lasting.

The Night of the Champions

On October 17, 2025, the city of Legazpi glowed with pride as JCI Manila stood among the nation’s finest during the Temiong Awards, the highest honor given by JCI Philippines. Beneath the watchful beauty of Mount Mayon, surrounded by cheers and camaraderie, JCI Manila once again proved what it truly means to be Built Different.

Under the leadership of President Jan Adrian “AP” Padiernos and Executive Vice President Eikon Javaluyas, JCI Manila took home 18 awards, including two of the most coveted titles of the night: Best of the Best President and Best of the Best Project.

18 Victories, One Spirit

EVP Eikon Javaluyas shared that every award reflected integrity, effort, and teamwork.

“Every recognition we earned was built on hard work, integrity, and relentless dedication, a proof of true excellence. We may not have carried home every title, but the genuine impact we have made speaks for itself. Because greatness can’t be given, it has to be earned, genuinely. We are JCI Manila. Steadfast. Proven. Built Different.”

Beyond Winning: The Built Different Way

In his message to the members, President Jan Adrian Padiernos reminded everyone that success is not just about titles.

“To every member, whether chairman, commissioner, committee member, or secretariat, thank you for believing in the Built Different vision. But being Built Different was never just about winning awards. It is not a title, nor is it bound by time. It is a way of life.”

He added:

“Thank you for giving me the honor to serve as your leader in the number one JCI chapter in the world. May we always continue to honor God, glorify His name, and live lives anchored in intention, uniqueness, and impact.”

Champions Inspire Us All

What JCI Manila brought home from Legazpi City was more than medals. It was meaning.

The Temiong Awards became a reflection of who the chapter truly is: not just a league of winners, but a family of champions.

Losers invite pity. Winners wear the crown. But champions inspire generations.

As the lights dimmed in Legazpi that night, one truth shone brighter than ever:
JCI Manila does not win for itself, it wins for others.
Because to be Built Different is to live as a champion.
