Breaking Barriers, Building Futures: JCI Manila Leads Beyond Prison Walls

In a space where second chances begin with knowledge, JCI Manila once again demonstrated that leadership reaches communities that need it most.

On March 19, 2026, at Centro Divino in Quezon City, JCI Manila rolled out one of JCI Philippines’ flagship initiatives—Beyond Prison Walls—through a Financial Literacy program for Preso Inc., a faith-driven organization dedicated to restoring dignity and addressing the challenges faced by persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

The program focused on equipping participants with practical financial knowledge essential for reintegration into society. Topics included saving, budgeting, and responsible money management—core skills that support long-term independence and stability.

The initiative was attended by key JCI leaders, including Caloy Capacillo, Regional Skills Development Director, and Vjohn Dizon, Director for Leadership Training and Business Development. Also present were Karren Dorado-Francisco, Assistant Executive Director, and Maria Conchita Lim, Assistant Chapter Director, whose participation reinforced the organization’s unified support for inclusive and impactful initiatives.

The Beyond Prison Walls program reflects a broader commitment to creating opportunities for individuals facing significant life challenges. Through collaboration with Preso Inc., JCI Manila brings education and empowerment directly to communities that are often underserved, focusing on long-term transformation rather than short-term assistance.

Financial literacy plays a vital role in this process. By learning how to manage resources, plan ahead, and make informed decisions, participants gain tools that can help them rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.

The session at Centro Divino served as a reminder that meaningful change often begins with access—to knowledge, to support systems, and to opportunities that open new paths forward.

Through Beyond Prison Walls, JCI Manila continues to demonstrate how leadership can extend beyond conventional boundaries—creating real, measurable impact and helping build a more inclusive future for all.
