What follows is the transcription of President AP’s speech delivered during JCI Manila’s Pre-Nomination Night. In this candid and heartfelt address, he shared the weight of leadership, the challenges of steering the chapter toward the upcoming World Congress, and the enduring truth that JCI Manila’s strength lies in its members. His words capture both the raw honesty and the inspiring call to unity that define what it truly means to lead the best chapter in the world:
Last year at Alab, they accepted my plans.
“AP, you’re gonna be the next Standard Bearer.”
I felt a slight sense of relief.
Then John Bautista added with a smile:
“By the way, it’s gonna be the World Congress in 2026.”
I laughed and said, “Sana sinabi n’yo agad ’yon, baka umatras pa ako!”
But in all seriousness, here’s something I’ve learned: It’s not easy being JCI Manila President. What you see on social media only shows part of the story. The real work, the challenges, the responsibilities; those are far bigger than what’s posted online.
SB Edison here beside me knows this. When I first heard “World Congress,” I felt the weight of it. Because being President is already a huge role, but preparing the chapter to host the World Congress means rallying everyone: committees, programs, partners, members, alumni, senators; all aligned toward one goal.
And that’s why I say this with respect: for someone to step forward and take on both roles, President and World Congress host; it takes incredible courage. And we’re blessed that it’s SB Edison.
Now let me share something important:
The reason JCI Manila is strong is not because of one person. It’s because of all of you. Regular members, associates, senators; each one brings something valuable. Time, talent, network, or simply showing up and supporting. That’s what makes us who we are.
So what’s next?
Tomorrow, let’s take care of our chapter by showing up. For first-timers and new members: the nomination isn’t just a formality. It’s our way of expressing commitment to our chapter, to our brothers, and to the standard we protect year after year.
It’s never easy to lead. It’s never easy to keep a chapter at its best.
But if it were easy, it wouldn’t be meaningful.
Gentlemen, let’s give our support to SB Edison and the Alab slate!
