Critical Response Committee Formed for World Congress 2026

Some teams are formed to execute.
Others are built to respond when everything is on the line.

On the evening of May 5, 2026, a new kind of leadership was set in motion as JCI Manila took a bold step forward in preparation for the 2026 World Congress. At the Buildhub Office in Ortigas, Senior Deputy Congress Director Richard Dods Lim Jr. officially introduced the Critical Response Committee (CRC)—a team designed not just to plan, but to act when it matters most.

Because when the stakes are global, preparation is everything.

The evening began not with formalities, but with connection. Over an early dinner, members shared stories, laughter, and moments that reminded everyone that behind every major initiative is a team built on trust. It was a simple start—but one that laid the foundation for something far more powerful.

Because strong teams are not just organized—
they are connected.

The presence of the Buildhub Team further strengthened the collaborative spirit of the night:

  • Redney Lom-oc, HR Business Manager
  • Alliah Bianca Lom-oc, HR Officer – Document Controller & Employee Engagements
  • Jhocel Astoveza, Recruitment
  • Francis Reyes, IT Administrator

Their support reflected a shared belief: that building something great requires the right people working together.

As the evening progressed, the team shifted into action—engaging in a team-building activity designed to break barriers and strengthen alignment. It was more than just an exercise. It was the beginning of a mindset—one rooted in trust, speed, and accountability.

Then came the moment that defined the night.

Pres. Dods took the floor and introduced the core mandate of the Critical Response Committee.

This was not just another committee.

This was the team that would step in when challenges arise. The team that would move when time is critical. The team that ensures that no matter what happens during the World Congress—there is always a response, always a solution, always a way forward.

The CRC is built with precision and purpose, with leaders assigned to key roles:

  • Andre Bernardo, Head of On-The-Day Operations (ODO)
Leading rapid response teams to resolve real-time logistical challenges
  • Duane Young, Head of Volunteer Strike Team & Pre-Congress Support
Building and deploying a pool of trained “fixers” ready to act anytime
  • Head of Safety and Security Liaison (to be appointed by JCI Angeles City Culiat)
Coordinating with local authorities including PNP and CDC Police
  • Head of Medical and First Response (to be appointed by JCI Angeles City Culiat)
Ensuring readiness of medical teams and emergency protocols
  • Mark Penafiel, Head of Admin and Communications
Managing the Joint Operations Center and ensuring seamless coordination

With upcoming oculars and site assessments, the committee is preparing to anticipate risks, identify vulnerabilities, and ensure readiness for any situation.

Because excellence is not just about delivering the expected—
it is about being ready for the unexpected.

After the presentation, the atmosphere shifted once more—this time into fellowship. Over pizza and a glass of whiskey, conversations deepened, ideas flowed, and bonds strengthened.

It was in these quiet moments that the purpose became even clearer.

This is not just about hosting an event.
It is about creating an experience the world will remember.

And in the words of VP Andre Bernardo:

“What do you want the world to remember when we hosted the World Congress?”

That question lingered in the room.

Because the answer will not be defined by perfection—but by preparation.
Not by avoiding challenges—but by how we respond to them.

The Critical Response Committee stands as a reminder that leadership is not just about planning for success—it is about preparing for uncertainty, stepping up under pressure, and delivering when it matters most.

As JCI Manila moves closer to the 2026 World Congress, one thing is certain:

Behind every great event is a team ready to rise when it counts.

And this team—

is ready.
