Beyond the Game: From Court to Community

On February 7, 2026 at Gameville Ballpark, Pasig City, JCI Manila will officially open its basketball season with Rookie Camp – Leg 1, welcoming new and returning members to an evening focused on sportsmanship, camaraderie, and community.

Set from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the camp will serve as the official entry point for this year’s Baby Jaycees and Rookies who aim to participate in the organization’s highly anticipated inter-league tournaments.

More than just a basketball clinic, Rookie Camp is a required program for all first-time players. Beyond fulfilling eligibility rules, the event is designed to be an important initiation into JCI Manila’s long-standing basketball culture.

The upcoming session will give new members their first official taste of competitive play. Participants are expected to learn team dynamics, run organized scrimmages, and begin building chemistry with teammates they will represent throughout the season.

Each attendee will be guaranteed at least three games, ensuring equal playing time and a welcoming environment where no one is left on the sidelines.

For many rookies, this will be their first experience wearing official jerseys, hearing play calls from newly met teammates, and discovering that in JCI Manila, sports is more than recreation. It is a platform for connection and leadership.

Regular members are also encouraged to take part, not just to compete, but to mentor. Veterans will have the opportunity to guide newcomers through drills and scrimmages, offering insights on positioning, teamwork, and game awareness. The camp is expected to reinforce the values of commitment, discipline, and collaboration that define the organization.

Organizers anticipate an atmosphere that will be competitive yet friendly, structured yet relaxed. The event aims to create a balanced mix of high-energy basketball and meaningful interaction among members.

Logistics for the evening are already in place. Secure parking will be available, shower facilities will be open after the games, and event photography and livestream coverage will ensure that the experience reaches even those unable to attend in person.

Leading the initiative is Rookie Camp Chairman Jacy Ramirez, who has been coordinating preparations to ensure a smooth, organized, and engaging program for all participants.

More than just a sporting activity, Rookie Camp – Leg 1 is envisioned as a key membership engagement event for 2026. It is meant to be organic, experiential, and inclusive. It reinforces that within JCI Manila, the basketball court is not only a place to play, but also a venue to grow.

As the new season approaches, one message is clear. The journey to stronger teams and stronger leaders begins here.

See you on the court. Let’s play, connect, and Lead Beyond.
