On May 22 and May 26, 2026, JCI Manila successfully implemented Care For Life, a healthcare and cancer awareness initiative designed to provide accessible medical services and preventive healthcare programs to underserved communities.
Led by Project Chairman Chuck Alvarez, the project was made possible through the collaboration of JCI Tokyo, Healthnet, 1Life, Perpetual Help Medical Center, and mWell, together with the generous support of Ride & Brew Society, Waters Philippines, Palawan Group, JAS Airconditioning, Aquabest, Lume, JET Lighting, F2 Logistics, and Prince Jun Development Corporation.
Care For Life was envisioned to address a pressing reality faced by many Filipinos: access to healthcare remains a challenge, particularly for individuals and families who often postpone medical consultations and treatment due to financial limitations. Through preventive healthcare services and community-based medical programs, the project sought to promote early detection, increase health awareness, and provide much-needed support to those with limited access to medical care.
The initiative was conducted in two significant phases.
The first leg took place on May 22 at Perpetual Help Medical Center in Las Piñas, where women were provided with free cervical cancer screening services. This activity highlighted the importance of early detection and preventive care in the fight against cervical cancer, one of the most preventable forms of cancer when identified and treated early. Beyond the screenings, participants were educated on women’s health, empowering them with knowledge that could help protect their well-being and that of their families.
The second leg was held on May 26 at the San Andres Sports Complex, focusing on community healthcare support and medical outreach services. Beneficiaries received healthcare assistance and access to medical services that are often difficult to obtain due to economic barriers. The activity reinforced the project’s commitment to bringing healthcare closer to communities and ensuring that quality medical support reaches those who need it most.
More than a medical mission, Care For Life served as a platform for hope. It demonstrated how collaboration among civic organizations, healthcare institutions, corporate partners, and volunteers can create meaningful impact in the lives of ordinary Filipinos. By combining healthcare access with education and awareness, the project encouraged individuals to take a proactive approach to their health while reminding communities that support is available when they need it most.
Through initiatives such as Care For Life, JCI Manila continues to fulfill its mission of creating positive change by addressing real community needs. The project stands as a testament to the power of partnership, service, and leadership in building healthier and stronger communities.
As healthcare challenges continue to affect many sectors of society, programs like Care For Life prove that collective action can make a difference. By promoting preventive healthcare, supporting early intervention, and extending medical services to underserved populations, JCI Manila and its partners are helping create a future where quality healthcare is not a privilege, but an opportunity accessible to all.
